Who We Are

Quest to Learn is a 6-12 school in District 2 that was developed in collaboration with the Institute of Play, a non-profit organization that embraces game-like learning and design thinking to challenge all students.

At Quest to Learn, we believe in learning by doing: lessons are interactive, skills-based, and grounded in real-world experiences.  Our students work on performance-based challenges, collaborating to solve complex problems and apply their knowledge meaningfully.  With game-like learning and design thinking at the core of our curriculum, students develop critical skills—creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking—that are vital for success in college and beyond.  Learning is a Quest, and every student is empowered to take their own journey.

Instructional Approach

Our curriculum is centered around our 7 Principles of Game Like Learning and  problem-based learning, where students engage in hands-on challenges that connect academic content and skills to real-world scenarios.

Learning by Doing

Perfomance Based Learning

6 + 7 Gamified

In the younger grades, gamified learning makes education fun and engaging through activities like math games, Minecraft projects, and game redesigns. All 6th and 7th graders also participate in Boss Level, a week-long interdisciplinary challenge ending in a public showcase of their creativity and skills.

8+9 Bridge

In 8th and 9th grade, students transition to rigorous coursework, explore college and career paths, and complete key milestones like resumes, research projects, and extracurriculars. These years build a strong academic foundation and prepare them for future success.

10+12 Post Secondary Aligned

At Quest to Learn, upper-grade students focus on real-world learning with an emphasis on college and career readiness. They tackle community challenges, and gain hands-on experience through AP courses, internships, and leadership roles. With opportunities to participate in clubs, college trips, and new challenges, our students graduate academically prepared, well-rounded, and ready to pursue their future goals.
